My earliest healthcare provider was my mom. She would wash my scrape and put band-aids on them. She was the one who sat up with me when I had the stomach flu and mixed the yucky tasting medicines with juice so I wouldn't taste it. The best healthcare was a hug and kiss. It never failed to make me feel better. Her other healthcare secret is chicken soup. She swears by it as a cure all. Even now as an adult, if I have a sore throat, she will make a big pot and deliver it directly to my house. I have to admit, I have become a believer. I have started making extra-large pots of chicken soup and freezing big portions. This is a cure in waiting, ready to go when one of my kids get sniffles.
